PWD Puducherry Junior Engineer Civil and Overseer Recruitment 2024: Apply Online from August 7

The Public Works Department (PWD) of Puducherry has announced the recruitment for the posts of Junior Engineer (Civil) and Overseer for the year 2024. Eligible candidates who are natives or residents of the Union Territory of Puducherry can apply online for these posts from August 7, 2024 to August 31, 2024.

Eligibility Criteria

Junior Engineer (Civil)

Educational/Technical Qualifications:

• Essential:
  • Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized University/Institute (or)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized University/Institute.

Overseer

Educational/Technical Qualifications:

• Essential:
  • Three years Diploma in Civil Engineering from the Board of Technical Examinations/Institution recognized by the Government.
• Desirable:
  • Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized University/Institute.

Age Limit

• Upper Age Limit: Not exceeding 30 years as of August 31, 2024.
• Age Relaxation:
  • OBC/BCM/EBC/MBC: 3 years
  • SC/ST: 5 years
  • Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD): 10 years (13 years for OBC/MBC/EBC/BCM and 15 years for SC/ST)
  • Ex-Servicemen: Period of Military service plus 3 years

Mode of Recruitment

Written Examination

The recruitment will be conducted through a Common Written Competitive Examination. The examination will consist of two papers, each carrying 100 marks, with the following structure:

• Paper-I: General English, General Awareness, General Science, Analytical and Reasoning Ability, Computer Knowledge.
• Paper-II: Topics related to Civil Engineering such as Strength of Materials, Building Materials, Estimating and Costing, Surveying, Soil Mechanics, etc.

Weightage of Marks:

• Paper-I: 25%
• Paper-II: 75%

Negative Marking: A penalty of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer.

Minimum Qualifying Marks:

• Unreserved: 30%
• MBC/OBC/EWS/EBC/BCM: 25%
• SC/ST/PwBD: 20%

Selection Procedure

• The merit list will be prepared based on the performance in the Common Written Competitive Examination. Candidates will be selected based on their merit and the preferences given during the application process.
