Important Dates

• Commencement of Online Application: 1st August, 2024
• Last Date for Online Application and Payment: 31st August, 2024 (12 Midnight)
• Editing of Submitted Data, if Any: 9th September – 11th September, 2024
• Date of Examination: 15th December, 2024 (Sunday)

Important Instructions

1. Before submission of the online Application Form, the candidate should read this notification carefully.
2. The State Eligibility Test (SET) will be held on 15th December, 2024 (Sunday) for determining the eligibility of Indian nationals for the post of Assistant Professor only in West Bengal. WBCSC will conduct SET in 33 subjects at selected Test Centres in different Districts of West Bengal.
3. Eligibility for Assistant Professor will depend on the performance of the candidate in both papers of SET in aggregate. Candidates who qualify the Test for eligibility for Assistant Professor will be governed by the rules and regulations for recruitment of Assistant Professor in West Bengal.
4. The result of the SET will be made available on the website: www.wbcsconline.in as and when it is declared. Candidates will not be individually intimated about their result.
5. Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Persons with Disability (PWD), Other Backward Classes (OBC) (Non-creamy layer), and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) candidates will be given special concessions as decided by the WBCSC under the Guidelines of UGC.

Conditions of Eligibility

1. Marks Requirement:
   • General/EWS candidates who have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s Degree or equivalent Examination from Universities/Institutions recognised by UGC are eligible for this Test.
   • OBC (Non-creamy layer), SC, ST, PWD, and Transgender category candidates who have secured at least 50% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s degree or equivalent Examination from Universities/Institutions recognised by UGC are eligible for this Test.
2. Age Limit: There is no upper age limit for applying for SET. However, for the purpose of recruitment, the relevant Government Order will be applicable.

Examination Fee and Mode of Payment

• General: Rs. 1300/-
• Other Backward Classes (Non-creamy layer)/EWS: Rs. 650/-
• SC/ST/PWD/Transgender: Rs. 325/-

Scheme and Date of Test

The Test will consist of two papers. Both papers will consist of only objective type questions and will be held on 15th December, 2024 (Sunday) in two separate sessions:

• Paper-I: Shall consist of 50 objective type compulsory questions, each carrying 2 marks. The questions will assess the teaching/research aptitude of the candidate, reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking, and general awareness.
• Paper-II: Shall consist of 100 objective type compulsory questions, each carrying 2 marks, based on the subject selected by the candidate, covering the entire syllabus of the earlier Paper-II and Paper-III (including all electives, without options).

How to Apply (Applications to be Submitted Online)

Steps for Submission of Online Application Form

1. Candidates seeking admission to the Test (SET) must apply online only on the WBCSC website.
2. Before applying online, candidates must possess the following scanned images:
   • Passport size photograph in JPG format (4kb to 40kb, 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm).
   • Signature in JPG format (4kb to 30kb, 3.5 cm x 1.5 cm).
3. After filling all details, candidates have to opt for payment of Examination fee either by credit card/debit card/internet banking.
4. Candidates are required to bring a photo identity card along with their printout of the online admit card on the day of Examination.
5. Detailed notification is available on the WBCSC website www.wbcsconline.in. Fee submitted through any other mode like Bank Challan, Money Order, Demand Draft, IPO, etc., will be summarily rejected.
6. To avoid last-minute rush, candidates are advised to apply early. WBCSC will not be responsible for network problems or any other issues during the submission of the online application in the last days.

General Instructions

1. Candidates must read the conditions of eligibility carefully and satisfy themselves regarding their eligibility for the Test before filling the online Application Form.
2. If a candidate is already SET qualified in a particular subject, they cannot appear for this SET in the same subject.
3. Submission of Online Application is mandatory. Hard copies of the application form will not be accepted by WBCSC.
4. Application Form must be completed in all respects as per the Notification.
